African Locust Beans (dried) also known as “IRU”, “DawaDawa” is a very popular soup ingredient. African Locust Beans is the single most significant ingredients guranteed to take your soups stews from “its ok” to “its superb”.
Locust Beans Stew also known as Obe Ata Iru is one of Nigerians Yoruba Style Fred Stew recipes. It’s very versatile and can be eaten with pretty much anything, well, excluding “Swallow”. I particularly love it with Boiled Yam. Now, some people add tomatoes to their Locust Beans stew, I don’t. I’m just not a fan of tomatoes in Palm Oil based stews. Feel free to add Tomatoes if you must.
